The Jaws Thing
This is a great movie. There’s a part early on when two characters find a severely damaged item, and upon one exclaiming to the effect of ‘what happened here’, a hideous dead body is discovered in the throes of death. There’s also an autopsy scene, which really grosses out the guy doing it.
Later, the three characters in this film end up stuck with nowhere to go. One of the characters goes kinda nuts and destroys any hope of communicating with the outside world for help. At one point, they try to destroy the monster beneath them, in its own cold and wet environment. It fails.
Near the end, the beast is coming towards one of them. Everyone else is surely dead. One last victim to finish off (or was there a 2nd guy somewhere we lost track of?). Death seems imminent. Once the monster has an explosive in its possession, the hero makes a last-ditch effort to get it to explode. He shouts quite an aggressive, if not overconfident expletive to the beast before getting very lucky and blowing it to kingdom come. It's quite the heroic, rousing moment to finally finish off the creature. And what an explosion! The last name of the last man standing near the climax ends with the letters “DY”, and he seems to be the only survivor.
But soon after, a 2nd person, who had been missing in the last few scenes, shows up - surprising the hero. They are the last survivors, and are exhausted. They talk about what happened. And how they will survive. They briefly talk about one of the other characters and what happened to them. They surmise what to do next.
Musically, the theme of the movie has some very ominous low bass notes. Often just two notes and very iconic. Also be aware that dog death occurs. And, this movie has a fair amount of blood and gore, complete with severed limbs shown in detail.
Great movie! Directed by Steven Carpenter.
