FADE IN:

MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN - DAY

Dramatically lit by sunlight filtering into the surface. Wide shot (helicopter shot) getting closer to an object in the vast sea - TWO objects. Moving.

CLOSER: two men with two YELLOW BARRELS attached to a piece of wood paddle towards an uncertain but hopeful shore.

CHIEF BRODY and MATT HOOPER, wary survivors of the shark attack on Quint’s boat, ORCA.

BRODY

Hey, what day is this?

HOOPER

It's Wednesday... eh, it's Tuesday, I think.

BRODY

Think the tide is with us.

HOOPER

Keep kickin'.

BRODY

I used to hate the water.

HOOPER

I can't imagine why.

Some time goes by. The men are badly dehydrated, and exhausted.

BRODY

Can’t believe we just went through 2 days of hell and survived.

HOOPER

I guess we’re kinda like heroes. Maybe we’ll go down in
history as the lucky survivors of The Orca!

BRODY

Yeah. The Orca. Farewell and adieu to The Orca, huh?

HOOPER

Man. I’m getting tired. Any sign of land in sight?

BRODY

No. Not yet. Maybe 6 degrees south, southwest bearing a - 

HOOPER

Don’t give me that shit - POINT!

BRODY

Eh, ya swim strait ahead. Maybe we’ll find a nice hotel on the island.

HOOPER

We’re both gonna die.

BRODY

I’m sure we’ll reach the shore sometime. There is no way we could have gone through the hell that we just went through, just to end up dying right after its all over. Even a Hollywood writer wouldn’t be such an asshole to let characters DIE, that the world loved, followed, rooted for, and became a part of popular culture. Come on.

HOOPER

I guess you’re right. That gives me some hope.  That's like some crappy future sci-fi money grabbing sequel or something.

They continue on, in the blistering heat of the Amity summer.

Hooper looks around, beneath him. He feels something.

HOOPER

What was that?

BRODY

What was what?

Hooper feels the something again.

HOOPER

There it is again.

BRODY

WHAT???

Suddenly, Hooper screams in pain, and is whisked around briefly. Then VIOLENTLY!

HOOPER

Martin, Goddamnit! Hurry!

Brody is in shock that yet another killer shark is after them.

BRODY

Shit! I guess that son of a bitch wasn’t done smiling.

Hooper gives one last fleeting attempt to stay afloat, but is dragged under water by another big great white. Probably a 30 footer, with 4 tons on him.

Brody, alone in the sea again, and once again against impossible odds, looks for a weapon of some sort.

Nothing. Nothing but two big useless barrels.

BRODY

So much for being a hero and and living to tell my tale. This SUCKS!

Brody frantically tries to climb onto the board between the barrels. But the shark jumps out of the water, and lands on top of him.

And with that, the huge shark tenderizes him and swallows him whole.

The sea is once again calm, with only the barrels and splinters floating and bobbing. Calm except for a mix of Brody’s and Hooper’s blood, as it swirls around the barrels.
